4 out of 5 stars Toro 51467   August 31, 2010

This is a small weed trimmer which is perfect for me--older and not too nimble any more.

4 out of 5 stars not bad for not to much weeds   August 30, 2010
matts6foot8 (mo.)
Not a bad cordless weed eater. Im a tall guy so its alittle short for me. 6'7" to give you an idea. If your shorter than that you wont have an issue. It had plenty of power clear through the entire charge. Light enough to 1 hand wich was really convenient so i didnt have to bend over. Charge lasted mabey 20 min. contantly ran. i would by it agian if i had to.

4 out of 5 stars Be careful with assembly   August 25, 2010
mid-centurian
I like the trimmer. Works pretty much like the majority of reviewers have described. However, I have an important piece of advice. The trimmer comes in two pieces, the battery/handle and the shaft/motor assembly. When you put the two pieces together, rest the motor on the floor or ground, engage the two pieces, and press down HARD on the handle until you hear an audible "snap" as the two pieces latch together. If you just push the two pieces together by hand they will seem to be OK and the trimmer will charge and initially work OK, but you will eventually have the following problems 1)the battery charge won't last very long and 2) the trigger safety button and trigger itself hang up and will not depress. I took my trimmer back to the dealer for an exchange and he informed me that the two pieces had simply slipped apart. He pushed them back together by hand, the trimmer then worked OK, and I went on my way. Once I started using it again at home the same symptoms ocurred again. It was then that I discovered that I needed to put significant pressure on the connection in order to get it to permanently snap together. No problems since then. I reread the assembly instructions and sure enough it says to push the two pieces together until you hear and audible click. I doubt most people will be able to do that unless they put one end on the ground and apply significant down force.

2 out of 5 stars cannot be repaired without incurring a hefty expense   August 14, 2010
Judith A. Fredrickson (Fall River, MA, US)
I purchased this item back in April, 2010 to make gardening easier for me. I am helping my daughter maintain her home and 2 acres of land while her husband completes his active duty in Afghanistan. I planted a beautiful garden and around this area as well as the walkways, driveway around the home, etc. need trimming. I am seventy-one years old and cannot handle the heavier gas and electric trimmers and when I saw this one advertised on Amazon I thought it would be just right for me to manage. At the end of July, the trimmer seized and I cannot get it operate; up to that point it was great and did the job. I cannot find a service company that fixes cordless trimmers so I contacted Toro. They gave me a list of dealers that are way out of my home area and the two that were the closest cannot fix it; they do not handle cordless ones. Toro advised me to mail it back to them and they would either repair or replace the item. To mail it back, the weight of the package would probably be as costly as what I paid for the item. I now have an unusable product.

3 out of 5 stars Great for small jobs   August 10, 2010

This trimmer is fine for a small yard and for small jobs. You cannot do any edging with this product. Also, if you have an arthritis in your hands this is not the trimmer for you. Very hard to maintain holding the 2 buttons down. I will use for in between touch ups, not the entire yard.
